As part of ArbiterSports contracts with educational and other entities that hire you to perform services, ArbiterSports reports the gross amount of your earnings from these entities to you and to the Internal Revenue Service on the appropriate Form 1099.  Some states (including California) may require that the entity paying you also withhold a certain percentage of your gross earnings as a prepayment on state tax.  ArbiterSports does not report this withholding on Form 1099.  Rather, the withholding entity is responsible for reporting those withheld amounts to you and to the state’s taxing authorities.  If you have questions about properly reporting state taxes and any type of withholding from your gross pay, you should contact the entity for which you performed the service.
