Sites and SubSites

Key Terms

Before we cover how to subscribe to sites, it’s important to clarify the difference between a site, subsite, and a satellite site, as well as the role each plays in your scheduling.
  • Site: a physical location or building that is hosting the sporting event. Common types of sites are schools, public parks, sports clubs, or recreation centers. The information connected to a site includes the name of the location and the physical address.
    • For example, your sites might be: High School, Middle School, public park, community pool, golf course, equestrian arena, etc.
  • SubSite: a gym, field, diamond, or another designated area of competition where the sport will take place. By distinguishing between a site and its subsites, you can schedule multiple games at one site without having to duplicate addresses in the system. A good way to think about the difference is that a high school counts as the site, but the gym, auditorium, and softball diamond all count as subsites.
    • For example, your subsites might be: Fields, gyms, or courts located on the site’s property.
  • Satellite: any site that is separate from a school location. For example, a high school may have a swim team but doesn’t have its own swimming pool at the school’s site. In such a case, assigners and schools should not create a fictional subsite at the school to act as the team’s default site but instead should use the actual site (such as the local aquatic center) as the team’s default site.

Subscribing to Sites

Any location you use for home games should be set up in your school's Arbiter Scheduling account as a Site. Make sure your home teams' sites are set up, including all sites where you schedule games with your school being the home team (e.g., home site or satellite sites). You do not need to set up your opponents' sites. Your school’s physical location defaults as your site, so you do not need to set that up.

The steps below will walk you through how to set up another satellite site.

  1. Sign in to your school's Arbiter Scheduling account.
  2. Click on the Resources tab.
  3. Go to the Sites sub-tab.

  1. Click on Manage Satellite Sites.
    • The next screen will feature all satellite sites located in the vicinity of your school’s zip code.

  1. Check the box to the left of all your satellite sites to add. A confirmation message, "Site was added!", will appear over the site name to verify that the site has been added to your group.
    • You can use the search bar at the top to enter the name of your site to narrow your search. Results will appear as you type.
    • Adjust the radius (in miles) if you need to add a site that is more than 20 miles from your school's zip code.

  1. If a satellite site is not listed, click Create New Site at the bottom-left of the page.
    1. IMPORTANT: Since this is a MASTER LIST of all sites in ArbiterSports' database for assigners and schools to share, we encourage you to ensure that the site is not already listed before you create a new site.
    2. Important Note: If the site has more than one location on the premises where a game might be played, add those locations as subsites.
    3. If a site is not listed, follow the prompts of adding in the legal name of the site, site type, and physical address. The system will then try to match the address to other sites already in the database to avoid duplicates. We encourage you to use what is already on the master list rather than creating your own to ensure it does not duplicate in Arbiter and get double booked.
