Adding blocks allows you, as an official, to manage your availability. When an assigner schedules games, they’ll be notified of the days and times you’ve marked as unavailable. In the Blocks tab, start by selecting an Action. The Action tool works like a paintbrush; you can choose to block an entire day, block a partial day, or clear existing blocks. Once an action is selected, use your cursor and click on the dates you want to block or unblock on your calendar.

How to Block a Whole Day
- Click the Blocks tab.
- Under Action, select Block All Day.
- Move your cursor to the calendar and select the days you want to block. A dark red day indicates that the entire day is blocked as unavailable, and your assigner will be notified of your unavailability when scheduling officials for those dates.
How to Block a Partial Day
Instead of blocking an entire day, you can specify a time range during the day when you’re unavailable.
Note: When blocking specific times of day, keep in mind that partial‑day blocks can affect assigning restrictions and game start times. For example, if you block availability from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, you may not be eligible for a 3:15 PM game. This may be due to travel time requirements or an assigner rule requiring officials to arrive on‑site a certain amount of time before the game. Communicate with your assigner to prevent this from occurring.
- Click the Blocks tab.
- Under Action, select Block Part Day.
- Under Time Range, select the time range you won't be available.
- Apply the selected time range to the calendar by clicking on the days you’ll be unavailable during that timeframe. Those days will appear in a lighter red, indicating a partial‑day block, and your assigner will be notified of your unavailability when scheduling officials for games on those dates.
How to Clear a Block
- Click the Blocks tab.
- Under Actions, select Clear Blocks.
- Click on the days you want to clear blocks and the blocks will be erased.
Note: If you decline a game and an automatic block is added to your calendar, you won’t be able to remove that block yourself. Automatic blocks are created based on your assigner’s preferences, which may be set to block an official’s calendar when a game is declined. Because of this, only the assigner who assigned the game can remove the block from your calendar.
How to Add a Series of Blocks
Adding a series of blocks can help save time. If there are specific days of the week when you’re consistently unavailable, you can add those blocks all at once by navigating to Date Range instead of adding them individually.
- Click the Blocks tab.
- Under Actions, select the type of block you want to add, either an all day block or a partial‑day time block.
- Enter the date range for the blocks, select the days of the week they should apply to, then click Apply to add the blocks to your calendar.

Why am I seeing a Print Summary Page when I go to Blocks?
If you only see a page that displays "Print Blocks Summary," you have not been given permission by your assigner(s) to block date and times for any group. Please contact your assigner(s) for them to give you access.
I added blocks on my calendar and I was still schedule for a match
Groups that were left unchecked
A possible reason you were scheduled for a game after setting up calendar blocks is that the appropriate assigning groups were not selected when the blocks were applied. As an official, you may be associated with multiple assigning groups. If you do not select the specific groups that the blocks should apply to, assigners from unselected groups may still be able to schedule you. When applying blocks to your calendar, be sure to checkmark the assigning group organizations so that the assigner does not schedule you.
Note: If there is an assigning group you’re unable to select (
), it means you do not have permission to apply blocks for that group. Please contact your assigner and ask them to grant you permission to place calendar blocks for that assigning group.
Didn't select Firm Blocks
Another reason you may have received an assignment despite blocking the day is that your assigner has the ability to override your blocks. However, you can prevent this by making your blocks firm, which prevents assigners from overriding them. To create a firm block, select an Action (such as Block All Day or Block Part Day), check Firm Block, and then apply the block to your calendar. This should prevent your assigner from overriding any blocks.
